Cutting and engraving
LightTouchLasers aim to offer a more personal service that goes beyond simply sending your file to the laser and shipping whatever comes out. We work with you get the best out of your design and materials. We’re friendly, approachable and eager to help so contact us with your idea for a no obligation quote.
To keep things simple we have an hourly rate system for use of the laser regardless of whether you’re cutting or engraving.
Our price includes a free initial check that your designs are laser ready and making quick corrections if we discover problems with the files (after contacting you to check, of course). However this does not include wholesale clean up and rework of items. If we find issues with the design that will cause it to produce an unsuccessful result we will return your files (at no charge) with a brief overview of what we’ve found. Following our Design Tips section can help you avoid some common problems. You can, of course, use our in-house design service if you would prefer.
We charge £35 / hour for cutting and engraving and will provide an estimate of the time required for a project before going ahead. and any time beyond the first 30 minutes is charged in fifteen minute blocks. This drops to £25 per hour on your third hour, with further discounts possible depending on volume.
Design and rework
If you need help bringing your ideas to life we offer an in-house design service where we can take an existing file and make modifications. Or use your own rough sketches to come up with something truly unique. You don’t need to worry about anything apart from the idea, so get designing! After making sure the concept is viable we will do all of the work and return a digital proof to you for approval. At the outset we will provide a rough estimate of the time required so you don’t get any nasty surprises. Once the design is complete we’ll cut it for you at half price for the first hour.
Design time is charged at £35 / hour in 30 minute blocks. If a design is complex or will take a long time we may have to contact you to discuss a deposit.
Payments for custom work
Once we have worked with you to produce a digital or physical proof and you are happy to go forward to production we simply need to take 50% payment to secure your slot, the remainder being payable before final dispatch after you have approved the results.
We can accept Paypal, cheques (with guarantee card), cash or card on collection.
We keep a stock of some more common materials such as plywood and acrylic. If an items is out of stock our suppliers can usually deliver within two business days if an order is placed before 1pm. We can also order materials for you but unfortunately we have to charge £10 for this service to cover administration time.
You can also send your own materials if you wish, subject to them being suitable for laser processing. If it is a material we haven’t used before we do need you to include enough extra for us to test the laser settings on (an A5-A4 sized section or free area is usually sufficient). We will return any unused materials with your order, (including offcuts if you wish).
When ordering materials bear in mind the laser can accommodate 395mm x 395mm maximum (safe design area is 385mm x 385mm). It may make sense to arrange the design to fit onto two smaller sheets.
Shipping is calculated on a per order basis depending on size, weight and delivery speed.
